Great location, good facilities, quite a few problems
The room is really small, so small that there is no place to open my travel case, so I could only put it on the bed to open it, which is less than ideal. And there are quite a few unnecessary things in the room like the air purifier, and ironing board and a big massage chair. They make the room even smaller. Another big thing is that the room isn’t exactly clean. There are a few places where dust has obviously accumulated, please see the pictures. I could be nit-picking here but since it’s a Japanese hotel and they are famous all around the world I think I’ll just point this out. Oh and the rooms are a bit noisy. The hotel is right by the train tracks so the train noise is clearly audible from early morning to at least midnight.
The location is really good. It’s 2 min walk from the Hakata train station so you are connected with all the cities in Kyushu by train and other islands of Japan by Shinkansen. Plus there is a major bus terminal just opposite the street so buses are also available. A bus takes about 15 min to run to the international terminal, which is quicker than the subway, and it’s only 35 min by bus to Dazaifu, which again is better than subway+Nishitetsu local train which starts from Tenjin. There a huge lot of food and shopping options within 500 meters and most of the shops are tax-free. The canal city is also just within 1km. There is also a hot spring(onsen) on the ground floor. The staff are typical Japanese with smiles and greetings all the time. There is also a smartphone for you to use for free in your room, and you can call all the major countries for free. Yes, free international calls.
